About

As a British professional sailor who grew up in the UK coastal town of Lymington, I have 30 years of experience in the sport of yacht racing.

I have competed in 4 America's Cup challenges, GBR Challenge in 2003, Areva Challenge in 2007, Land Rover BAR in 2017 and Ineos Team UK in 2021.

I also have 8 years of TP52 Super Series/Med Cup experience, came runner up in the Extreme Sailing Series in 2008 with Teamorigin and have won the World Match Racing Championship in 2010 also with Teamorigin and 2014 with Ian Williams.

Other wins include the Sydney-Hobart Race, the Fastnet Race, the Copa Del Rey, the Maxi Worlds, Key West Race Week and multiple match racing events..

Other skills

During my years in the sport I have acquired a number skills alongside those of sailing, many from the time I have spent training in America's teams.

In the last two editions of the America's Cup I was the sole rules advisor for Land Rover BAR  and Ineos Team UK, working along side the management team to ensure the sailors were able to use the rules to their advantage as well as advising the team with regards to the Protocol and Class Rule crossovers with the sailing team.

During the 2017 America's Cup, I was also responsible for creating and managing a comprehensive audio communications system for the Land Rover Bar. This are was and area which we identified as performance differentiator for the team and so required a high level of quality.

I have managed crew manoeuvres and worked on rig programs in previous America's Cup teams.

I also have skills with running rigging, boat building and general performance optimisation and boat prep.

Media

I have worked on various SailGP events as a commentator, pundit and sailing analyst.

For the 2021 America's Cup I worked with the media team on various projects including anchoring a post racing show streamed live on various platforms.

For the last 2 weeks of the 35th America's Cup, when not sailing, I worked with BT Sports as part of their presenting team for their live show on the event, anchored by Clare Balding.

Similarly, I was part of the Sky Sports live presenting team for the 32nd America's Cup.

I have also commentated on yacht racing, presented talks to various audiences and have taken part in interviews across all forms of media.
